Love the idea of DIY - there are some things to consider !
You've made all the invitations, the favors, tracking the guest list, being the mediator, pre -wedding appointments with the hairdresser (s) , makeup etc. you've already spent how much time on some these details, and now there is more ...
To plan a successful event it takes approximately 200 hours, which is 25 days or 5 weeks by spending 8 hours per day, this does not take into account any travel time, nor the cost of your gas and wear & tear on your vehicle.
How much time have you allotted to be the director on your wedding day to ensure that everyone is working off the same page.?
Carefully think over all offers of help. Just because your good friend can do flowers, can decorate, or do calligraphy, or decorate a cake, doesn't mean that they are good at it, or that they see your vision.
Now you have delegated jobs to your volunteers, are they going to show up on time, do they have the appropriate tools and knowledge to do the job, and how long it will take to complete the tasks at hand, or will they be leaving early so they can get ready to be your guest ! It's always ironic how headaches seem to manifest themselves at the last minute. Now, that everyone has had a wonderful time, eating, dancing, etc., and it's 12:00 midnight, and now it's time for take down. After 16 hours of frolicking & fun are you and your volunteers still able to do strike down & cleanup before leaving the venue ? Have you arranged for a vehicle to remove the gifts, the cans & bottles for recycling, all other trash that has been accumulated !
Oh, and it's not over yet - you still have to be fresh & perky for the gift opening the next day, after your wedding night in a fabulous hotel room all set up for a romantic night.
A bride should be a guest at her wedding, and not be stressed . This is a joyous time, for family and friends that are coming to share your joy, and should not have to work for you.
